Logos and branding

The logo is the hub of any brand or corporate identity, so it's vital that it accurately communicates the values and business of the company or organisation it represents. A good one should be simple and memorable, as well as instantly recogniseable and, as far as possible, unique.

Marketing material

Printed marketing material is an effective means of promotion. A carefully targeted marketing device, like a prestige brochure or direct mail shot, is a cost effective way to get your message in front of your target audience, and well-designed press ad can communicate a sales proposition to a large audience.

Magazines

Magazines and newsletters are an effective way of communicating with customers, employees, organisation members or even an entire industry. Customers can be kept up to date with promotions and offers, and staff can feel informed and included by their employer. They can also be a useful source of news and expert advice for specific trades and trade associations, and can be made available in both print and digital formats.

Illustration

An illustration is often a viable alternative to a photograph and can contribute a completely different feel to a magazine article or brochure. The range of styles is very varied and they can offer much greater flexibility in terms of subject matter, as well as providing images when photography isn't an option.

Web design

I have a strategic partnership with a web and software developer which means I can include web design in the range of services I offer. This website itself is the result of the partnership, and I will be adding web design projects that are currently in the pipeline to my work samples as they become available.

Vital Remedy is a small homeopathic health practice. The device within the logo was created to express a general feeling of well-being brought about by the use of natural, plant-based sources, which are at the heart of homeopathy.

The Mover magazine's logo has to be simple and adaptable. It is mainly used on the magazine itself, but is also used in situations where the word 'magazine' is added, to avoid ambiguity. A linear format is ideal for the magazine cover, but a stacked format is used for things like social media avatars, exhibition panels and The Mover Conference logo. The Words Workshop postcards

The Words Workshop is a copywriting and PR company, and this campaign was devised to promote their copywriting service to design and advertising agencies. The cards were designed to be memorable through their humorous style, and there were four designs in all. The target audience received all four, sent at regular intervals.

The sales message for this campaign was that the key difference between crate hire companies is the level of customer service, and that Mastercrate offer better customer service than their competitors.

Designed for OMNI's (Overseas Moving Network International) 2011 conference in Portugal's Algarve, this brochure provided delegates with information about the conference timetable, the attendees, the hotel and the scheduled extra-curricular activities, as well as offering useful local knowledge.

A tarsier is a small primate native to the Philippines and an endangered species. This illustration is used in the Tarsier UK charity's logo. The style is simple, so it works as a logo, but detailed enough for people to recognise a tarsier once they have seen the illustration.

Chocolates By Leon Christmas Gift Selection

These illustrations were used on the sleeve of a chocolate selection Christmas gift box, to indicate each of the centre/chocolate combinations included.

This was created to be sold on royalty-free photography and illustration websites. It was generated in Adobe Illustrator and shows the sophistication and complexity that can be achieved using vector drawing applications.
